I was wondering if any of our forum readers have had an experience(s) ordering online from a e-tailer called Sound City out of New Jersey? I ordered a Samsung STB about a month ago and when I call to check thge status of said order, I get different answers each time I call and noticed since I ordered a SIR-T165 from them, their price went UP $100!
I'm sure all would appreciate feedback about this etailer, good or bad! ![]()

Has the purchase shown up on your Credit Card bill? If so... call your CC company and tell them about your problem. They are usually very helpful in these situations (I.E. They won't pay Sound City!).

No, there are no charges on my bill. That's because apparently they haven't shipped one to me yet. My original post alludes to the fact that I made two phone calls to them on the same day and received two "different answers" as to when I would be shipped one of the units.
I just would like to know if anybody has ordered from them either before or during the big Shipping Strike that occurred in the past few months. And if so, were you happy with the customer service or have any negative experience at all!?

On Line Tracking?
A lot of on-line stores have on-line tracking via a reference number. I guess this isn't one of them...

Sound City......
I haven't purchased anything from Sound City. I have however been doing lots of net surfing looking for a good HDTV STB. It seems an awful lot of merchants simply don't have any product to ship. I think that strike on the West Coast had something to do with it. I finally settled on the Samsung 160 and bought it online from Best Buys website Saturday, Nov. 2nd. It will be deliverd tomorrow Nov. 7th. Cost was $599 plus tax (shipping free). An aside....why did you order the 165...it doesn't bring in satellite signals as far as I know....it's a terrestrial receiver???? Maybe I shouldn't assume everyone's hooked up to DirecTV...

Thanks for your advice/input, Campagnola! I, too, usually spend a good deal of time "surfing the net" for bargains and technical info. before I outlay cash for anything!
You absolutely have a valid point about the "strike impacting shipping of many goods" I am now told that Sound City has not ONE Samsung STB in their inventory and my order is one of the first to ship when backordered product trickles in. I'm ordered the SIR-T165 terrestial receiver because it is the lastest model (released in early Oct., 2002), WAS only $499.00 including FREE shipping!! I was told that out of 44 units backordered, my order was 38th. I order a terrestial receiver because I already subscribe to Dish Network, live in Milwaukee, Wisc., which has decent local broadcasting of various DTV formats, and I didn't care to be "bound" to ANY DSB just because I paid extra for a STB that they mandate I activate to THEIR criteria. So, I can enjoy OTA reception of HDTV and DTV signals for free for now! I guess it all boils down to attitude and tolerance of this fledgling broadcast format(s). I may regret later, as I would like DiscoveryHD!
