Just got the JVC 52-z575, my thoughts
I just bought the JVC 52z575. Setting it up took literally 10 seconds after the Best Buy guys placed it on my stand. I simply plugged in the power and plugged in the component video cable from my Comcast HD STB.
Impressions: 1) Brightness and 52" screen size are very nice 2) Standard cable signal is better than I expected. Quite acceptable. 3) When using the xbox to play DVDs using a component video cable, the picture quality is subpar and there is no correct aspect ratio available. 4) The high definition picture is sharp and has very good colors. But there's a huge amount of pixelization/motion artifacts whenever the camera changes views or whenever there's fast action. This is very noticeable. I also noticed this on the 50" Pioneer plasma I was considering, and pretty much all large HDTVs at Best Buy for that matter. However, this was NOT a problem on my previous roommate's old Panasonic (non-digital) rear projection high def TV. 5) The TV is very light for it's size; it weighs significantly less than the 32" JVC CRT Tube TV it replaces, so it swivles on my TV stand much easier. 6) I bought a DVI-HDMI cable from Best Buy so that I could compare the picture quality out of my Comcast HD box between component and DVI. I cannot notice any difference. 7) My unit was manufactured in August 2004. I don't know if it has the purple problem or not. 8) I do not find the fan noise to be a problem 9) I do not find the startup time of the TV to be a problem (takes around 30 seconds plus or minus). I'm going to watch it for the next week and see what I think. I have the Best Buy service plan so I can have them come out and have them address any issues I might encounter, or possibly return it if I want. |

Youre lucky!
#1 - You seem pleased with your set. #2 - You got someone to reply to your post. See my thread below....not a SINGLE reply to attempt to answer a question or help me find a solution. Do you have DIGITAL CABLE? Your standard is acceptable? WOW. Mine SUCKS. It looks like a 20 year old Projection TV. Any ideas for me??

Well, I just bought one from Best Buy today. Got the four year protection plan and a great looking stand to put it on. The set was $2599.99 and the stand was $299.99, throw in $399.99 for the protection plan plus shipping and taxes and the total was $3560. It'll arrive on Saturday. Coulda gotten it sooner, but I don't like taking time off from work. Yeah, yeah! I know I'm crazy, call me dedicated, it came from 20 years in the military! Once I've gotten it all hooked up, I'll file a report!

Have had my HD52Z575 since September and love it! I have OTA only through an LG LST-3510A STB. My observations:
o Brightness - excellent o Picture Quality - Excellent o Analog rendition - barely adequate o HD and Digital rendition - near perfect (in my opinion) o No pixelation with fast motion, etc., although I do get pixelation on rainy and/or windy days due to the many trees that surround my home (multipath) Of course now there's the recall I have to contend with. The local authroized JVC repair place has the necessary part on order. |

On that "recall"... At least JVC is addressing those issues. PS: Which recall issue are you talking about? |
