Unhappy Which DVD player to buy for best match?

It seems the more I learn, the more I feel like I don't know anything...

It's getting to that time in putting this all together that the next purchase is the DVD player.

And after reading your valuable posts and trying to find two player reviews that agree, we're still confused having just started this crash course into the Hi Def world a few months ago.

I thought some of you may have already done some of the research for the equipment we have.

So far we have..

-Harmon Kardon AVR 520 receiver.

-Dish PVR508 for satelite.

-Pinacle Platium for speakers.

We're leaning toward the Mits 65511 for TV??
Anyone happy/unhappy with this set?

We're trying to keep the player under $400.00 as we trying to maintain some kind of budget...

Thank you in advance!
Mel

You have plenty of choices. All major brands will be fine-Toshiba,Sony,Panasonic,Phillips, Pioneer.
Look at things like ergonomics of the remote. DVD Audio capablity, size and construction.

If you are looking to keep it under $200 (I got mine for $179.00 at Circuit City) look at the Panasonic RP-62. It has progressive scan and looks great on my widescreen HDTV. It has all the options I have found I need and I didn't have to spend a car payment on it. Good luck.

Question

Thanks guys,
Does that panasonic have the Faroudja chip?

How important is that?

I found a very informative bench mark at:

Wondering if anyone knows if the Mitsubishi DD-6030 has the
" Faroudja chip". I have the Mitsubishi WS-A55 and was just thinking of staying with the same brand PS DVD player.

Anyone have any experieinces or reviews on this unit.

Thanks,

AO
