Angry newbie KP-51WS500 trouble, please help!

Ok, looks like I may be in trouble. Please help me someone! I have recently bought the KP-51WS500 model and didnt have it a month before it started flaking out on me with a wide range of color and flicker issues. The set has been "diagnosed" by an obviously inept technician and is due to be taken away to the shop soon. The tech knew nothing about the machine. He seemed to know alot about Mitsubishi boxes, though.

I caught a blurb reading in this forum that there is a serial number series of this model starting with 900 that is known for being trouble. Well, as soon as I read that I ran to the machine with my flashlight, and what do you know... starts with 900.

Suffice to say, anything that costs in increments of "grands" and doesnt work after a month makes my skin crawl. Of course, I didnt know I had to be Sherlock Holmes before I could buy a HDTV.

I am hoping someone could shed some light on this for me, in detail, as I may be going back to my retailer with a less than pleasant attitude. My questions for ya'll would be: Is this a well known and documented problem with this model/serial#? Can I expect it to be repaired the first time if at all? Anything ya'll could tell me would be extremely helpful. Techical data, specifics and hyperlinks would be nice.

This is my first time posting regarding my HDTV experience, I hope I can post on a lighter note later. Looking forward to hearing from you, Patrick

Ok, I have printed out the service bulletin and will be presenting it to my service tech ASAP. However, anything else ya'll can tell me would be great. Thank you, Patrick

I would just call Sony, mention the flicker problems, and mention your serial #, and the service bulletin. Tell them you want a certified sony tech to come and fix it..... That should get you on the right track.
