Circuit City

I just purchased my hitachi 51 inch and Panasonic dvd/surround at circuit city and it was a pretty bad experience Keep in mind i drove about 45 minutes to this particular store. First off they told me they had it in, and after being there for quite a while and finally checking out i was told that it was not in and that it would be in the next day. Ok next day i go get it. Get it home get it all set up and it works great. Little while later i realize that the dvd/surr unit i bought has no optical in on it (That the salesperson told me i didn't need) but i do need for sound from my hd box. So i take that back and upgrade to another model. Then the cable guy comes. I ask him about the hdmi cable ($120) i purchased. He says it probably won't make much of a difference over the cables he used ($20).
So now i'm off to return that. I have mad several purchases in the past at best buy and tweeter without problem. I believe this will probably be my last at cc.

It could be worse. At least you got your equipment that you enjoy now and can get $$$ back for an unused product. Take some of the money from the HDMI cable and buy some DVD's, and watching said DVD's, will help make it all worth while. Congrats on your new toys.

Im usually pretty good about researching products. I read many reviews about hitachi before buying. I just didn't look deep enough when it came to all the cable crap.LOL

I still wouldn't rule out shopping at CC because they do have good pricing, just know what you need when you go in there. The salemen usually don't know much in those places... By the way, last time I was in Tweeter they tried to sell me a $200 Monster cable to go with my $300 DVD player, salesmen pushing Monster cables can happen anywhere because the products have such a high profit margin on them. They are trained to push them.

I have to agree with MJones ... sometimes being patient and getting the right sales person can make all of the difference in the world.
I just bought a plasma there and the experience was pretty good. I was able to get the assistant manager to help me and I even got money off of the advertised price. He was also pretty knowledgable.

And that hdmi cable MIGHT have made a difference, depending upon your set up. A 120 difference? I doubt it. But as the FAQ and numerous posts demonstrate, people are all over the lot on the hdmi or dvi inputs.
