I have been trying to figure out a solution for this problem for some time now, this looks like the place to ask.

I have an LP540 projector with 1 M1-DA input for HD signal that can either use the DVi input, or compnent input...but not both at once.

I also have all 3 game consoles with component only outputs, and a HTPC which I want to use the DVi output. HOW CAN I DO THIS WITHOUT SWITCHING THE CABLE ON THE BACK OF THE PROJECTOR EVERYTIME?!?!

Is there such thing as an M1-DA switchbox (would be PERFECT!)? If not, what other solutions are there? The best I have come up with is a component to VGA transcoder for the consoles, and use the VGA passthru for the HTPC, but I don't get to use the DVi this way.

Any help would be MOST appreciated. It seems to me this would be a common issue here.

You need to convert all 4 sources to the same type then run them through a switcher. Seeing you have 3 component connections and one HTPC that can do DVI or RGB, I'd look into a transcoder for the HTPC to convert it to component also...

But since I have an HTPC with DVi out, and watching DVD's on it is most important, I would prefer to have a solution to use the DVi from the HTPC. So I need a solution to use the DVi along with the components.

There must be some way.

DVI from the HTPC and a component switcher with the consoles connected.
Your PJ has 2 inputs, correct? 1 DVI and 1 component. Cable to each, The Pj should only recognize the active one.

There is no way to easily convert component to digital DVI... You can convert it to RGB and just use RGB for everything, your going to need a transcoder to convert the component to RGB from the gaming consoles then some type of RGB switcher....

If your dead set on using DVI for the HTPC, you should really consider a projector with seperate DVI and component inputs on it then.

kevin, the M1-DA input on this projector is an all in one connector. Depending on which adapter you use with it, you can input component, RGB, or DVI into it. There is no seperate component input to use.

Or, you could get this receiver.... which has all the inputs you need..... and you could just use the dvi output to the projector..... (would be the only out to the projector!)

of course, this costs mucho $$$$$

ahh, well, just run component out to your projector as well...... =)

I dont see why the projector wouldnt allow both component and M1 to be hooked up and not working together.... make sure auto signal is on...
