Has anyone tried to calibrate their AKAI?
I am curious to know what the procedure is like for the Akai/Samsung sets.
I know the service menu can be accessed by mute,1,8,2 and mute 1,8,3 Is there a service manual that has a general list of operations? like what to first, second, etc. It might include the factory settings also. The service menu looks pretty ominous but with some instructions I think it would be manageable |

I have done some tweaking through information I have found in these threads which mostly dealt with the Samsung sets. I also used the Video Essentials calibration disc and did some tweaking as far as contrast and brightness, and color. I supposedly turned off my SVM setting which I couldn't tell did a whole lot, but I keep my contrast and brightness pretty low anyway. I also used the service mode and adjusted the convergence to pretty near perfect. This I think made my picture what it is more than anything else. My picture is pretty darn good. I don't see a lot ov HD big screen TV's in people's homes, but mine will stand up against the ones I have seen as far as overall picture quality in High Def.

How hard was it to do the convergence yourself? I am little worried that the picture will be worse after I start fiddling with it, and potentially void the warranty
