I just read the C-Net review of the HD-52Z575 in which the JVC was compared against a Samsung DLP and a Hitachi LCD. I was wondering if anyone out there knows what they ment when they wrote:
"For example, links in the chain on the ferry as it motored across New York Harbor appeared a tad less distinct. Multiburst test patterns from that tape backed up our findings; the set could barely resolve a 14MHz pattern, while the other two sets could." http://reviews.cnet.com/JVC_HD_52Z5...-5.html?tag=top What is a 14MHz pattern any way. This TV is supposed to have a 75MHz super detail processor. Why does this set have so much trouble creating a sharp image? When I looked at one sitting next to a Sony LCD at the local Good Guys I noticed that the Sony's image was a lot sharper, even with the JVC set to +30 detail. The JVC also cast a weird purple fringe on the edges of white objects such as a boat in the water. Is there a fix for these problems, or is this just the best picture you can expect from JVC even when they are using more advanced LCOS technology? Can a service technician focus the lense and align the LCOS panels to fix this problem or is there no solution? I am considering buying this JVC but would like to know if I can fix these problems when I get the set, or if I should look elsewhere. Thanks. |

They are talking about frequency response.

I must've gotten lucky with my set as I've had my HD-52Z575 for four months now and it hasn't given me a minute's worth of trouble. The picture's been sharp and clear, especially on HD channels while I haven't encountered any sort of problems about frequency response. In my view (taken for what it's worth), the JVC-DILA is a great set! Well worth the $2500 i spent on it!

You decide!
Based on Flashjeff's excellent advice (thank you for the PMs) my friend bought the JVC 52" set (in black) and is loving it.
I don't always trust even the most detailed of reports as they can either confuse you or sway you to assumptions-or both. When we picked up the JVC set, the Sony, Hitachi and JVC 70" models were all lined up for comparison at a store that I trust for correct setups and the JVC looked the best with serveral sources inputted-basic cable, satellite HD and a DVD (progressive setup) movie. You decide which is best for you -my next set - if there is one - will be the JVC or Hitachi using the LCoS technology - JVC calls it HD-ILA.

Glad to have been of service and that my comments on the JVC set steered your friend towards buying one. I had done a lot of studying about the various types of HD sets and was intrigued with the JVC. I'm glad I made what I truly believe was the right choice. ![]()
