Switching to a Projector (maybe)
Hey everyone. I got sick of the amount of attitude my Hitachi 60V500A was giving me and I've decided to return it. All I need now is a projector and a screen
![]() I'm thinking about the Hitachi PJTX100 LCD Front Projector. My setup is in my basement, so lighting is 100% controlled. In such an environment, I think a projector would perform ratherly perfectly, yes? Another thing, fell free to suggest any Front Projectors you know of that amazing quality with 480P sources (ofcourse, then these will have good HD quality too if the 480P is good). Thanks for any suggestions! |

Pick a projector with the Faroudja DCDi. I output 480i from my DVD player and allow the projector to do the deinterlacing and scaling.
(sending 480p to the projector would bypass the Faroudja for deinterlacing) It does an outstanding job on DVD movies. Same setup as yours, basement with 100% controlled lighting. I don't think you'll be sorry with a projector but standby, a good screen will cost some $'s. Work with a knowledgeable dealer, the screen has to match the projector. ie, if the FP has good light output you don't want a high gain screen. Da-Lite, Carada, Stewart are a few screen manufacturers that come to mind. I'm sure they will provide input based on your FP choice. You might check at www.projectorcentral.com for reviews on various FPs. They have a top 10 list for each of the three price ranges Good luck, Lee I might add, if the FP doesn't have an outstanding deinterlacer/scaler, get yourself a good DVD player with it built in it. Good doesn't necessarily mean that is has to be expensive. Last edited by LeeS : 04-11-2005 at 06:36 AM. |
