Should I buy this model ? Kmart has it for $377.00 + tax. Also does anyone have this model with a Tivo hooked up. I understand there are some issues with the remote codes. The picture at the store looked better than any of the other units sitting on the shelf. HD ready and it has a good number of inputs. Yea or Nea ?

Best Buy had this model for $330 (I had a -$30 off coupon for online too) making my price $299 before tax. You always get what you pay for though and the first set had purple burn-in around the edges (only on the blue), degauss couldn't get rid of. Second unit that was exchanged had the same problem, but in the center of the screen and on the red color.

Also the second unit had visible "light" bleed on the top right edge when in LBX mode. Would sometimes turn on/off by itself.

I said screw it and upgraded to a TV that worked.

I just got the advent ht2751a for $331 at Best Buy and so far so good. The only problem I see with is adjusting the color levels but I can deal with it and getting the remote codes with my vcr, dvd, directv working. Im hoping to get Directv HD programing by the August but Im not willing to pay $300 right now for it, Im sort of thinking of switching to cable of dish network if i have to pay that much. Overall the picture and sound is clear, Im glad I got it!

I was just in a nearby Kmart store and saw the Advent HD tv for $337, marked down from $449.99. I don't know much about them but thats one of the cheapest prices that I've seen.

It is half the price of any other HDTV for a reason...

I bought one a month ago from Best Busy for just under $300. Ended up having lots of problems.



More "minor" issues I could maybe put up with for a super cheap HDTV:

- sucked at showing standard definition
- other remotes (DVD, receiver) would occasionally change the channel on the TV, turn it off, or some other random action
- in widescreen mode a red, green, blue line would appear just above the picture
- has some weird autocontrast thing that would cause funny things to happen in dimmly lit scenes
- remote control would randomly decide not to work (yes I changed the batteries)
- the sound was horrible

Major issue that I couldn't put up with:
- in shows/movies where there is panning/zooming on a static image the sides, maybe 3 inches or so, would distort...made it look like a fishbowl


I thought the HD looked pretty good until I returned the set, stopped being cheap, and bought a Sony kv30hs420. The HD on it is incredible. It seriously looks 3D. Overall the Sony is waaaaaay better then the Advent set. You won't regret buying quality.

I bought the 30" widescreen HD Advent and have had no problems. It even does 720p (rare in CRT's in my experience). But be cautious, you often get what you pay for with electronics, and if you pay a bargain price you may get bargain technology. Get a service plan with it. The service plan for mine was $30. I'm covered for anythign going wrong with it by Kmart for a year. I paid $800 for a 32" full screen Panasonic HD from Circuit City a year ago and I think it is crap now compared to the Advent.
