AV-48WP30 - 5 sets of parallel lines?

I am hoping someone can give some sound advice here, as I have a repair person at my house 3 times now....

I have 5 sets of dual lines, evenly spaced, going from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen. If you go to POP, the lines disappear from the main screen, but if you freeze a picture, they are there.

My repair person talked with JVC a few times, and they told him that they "think" it is the the IP Converter, part number SSB0D51A-M2/3. His cost on this part is $944.42, and on line I found the part for over $1000. This is more than Costco is selling the TV for now. This has been on going for over six months now just to get answers and little help from JVC.

I hate to scrap a 2 1/2 year old TV, as I did not buy the extended warranty. At this cost, it does not ake sense for me to fix this.

As a side note, I am in NH, and my repair person is not JVC certified The closest certified repair person is 50 miles away and do not come to NH.

My question is, does this make sense to anyone that this problem would be that part and cost more than the TV? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks
