Optoma h79
Hey Folks ! I am currently gathering info to step up from a Mitsi 65" to front projection. Am considering the Optoma H79, and am interested in the 2.35:1 constant hieghth aspect ratio. Been looking, studying, and learning, but not clear what I need for this projector to achieve this ratio. Anamorphic lens ? What make/model ? Are lenses universal ? Is the projector capable of this aspect ratio ? I'm planning a 70" to 80" wide screen with the projector ceiling mounted about 12' to 13' back.
Apologies if this is an old question...just need brand specific info. Thanx |

Optoma H79 v. Sony VPL-HS51
Is the picture of the H79 worthy of the price difference over the HS51? The reviews on the H79 are nice, but so are the reviews on the HS51. However, the $3000 price difference is hard to justify. Any opinions?

I'm leaning towards the Sony VPL-HS51 with a DVDO iScan HD+ High Resolution Scaler. I can get both for less than the H79. Is this the right combination or am I just talking myself into this?

Great combo ! Hadn't checked out the '51. Really wanted the DVDO ! Had originally kept an eye out for DLP's (spooked by SDE) but now reading some great reviews on the Sony. Thanx for the slap-upside -the -head.
