My friend from Jersey said that a worker from Best Buy told him JVC has stopped producing all D-ILA TV's because they keep burning up and they can't fix it. This is complete crap, right? I immedeatly thought so after hearing it was from a best buy salesperson. Anyway, I can't believe they would discontinue their new line because of this, and I also thought they got the fire problem fixed.

Anyone hear this stuff?

Why do these god-awful sales personnel always DO this?

JVC has not only come out with the new 786/886 models in the 52-61-70 inch sizes with Cablecard and Digital built in tuners for its new line very recently and is set for the introduction of 1080p HD-ILA line later this year and soon, if not already, a 56" model if I remember correctly.

Crutchfield has added the 52-61-70" line to their catalogue mailers, though still not available on-line, but Crutchfield does not bother, in my experience, with bad product lineups, either. if that is a sign.

If you want BS from BB (or any other store not selling a certain product), you will find these stories plentiful at the very least.

IGNORE THEM.

There was a few out there that had a wire loose and it was fixed and they are selling HD-ILAs like everything else HDTV. These models come in black and silver, black being the most popular based on my own experiences/setups.

So remember, if the sales person tells you how awful a product is that he/she is not selling at their store, leave the store because the sales person in untrustworthy and unworthy, of your time and money.

Thanks for the info, TVAuthority, I knew JVC had a 56" coming in soon.

I think JVC had a 1080p model on display at a recent show that was just fantastic, too.

Great! I purchased a 52G886 the later part of July this year.

Pardon the pun, but can you shed any light on the premature lamp burn outs that consumers are experiencing?

My first replacement lamp has just been shipped (at no cost - warranty) and should arrive by mid week (next). Since first turning on the set we average 10 hours a day of HD viewing. Simple math tells me the lamp only had about 1500 hours on it. Ok, ok, maybe the lamp had 2000-2500 hours because of peak usage on the weekends. That's a stretch though. Still in all, given the fact that this lamp is a life limited part, I would expect to get more time than this out of a $200.00 lamp.

What's the scoop?

I've had my HD52Z575 since September 2004 and have put an estimated 2,500-3,000 hours on the set. Bulb OK so far.

Thanks for the input, I was going to ask around about that.
My friend's set - same as yours (the all-black model?) is still going strong
from what I hear and the bulb life was questioned recently.
Additionally, I plan on selling my Mits 48" set for the 56" JVC 1080p set in early spring, so the life of the JVC bulbs comes into the equation vs. the SXRD 60" set (don't really like the speaker wings).

I've had the 52Z575 for nearly a year now and the bulb's running like a champ. In my opinion, JVC puts out a terrific product that's served me well.

I think my HD52G786 bulb lasted for about 800hrs (if that) before going out. JVC sent me a new one within a week and no questions asked.

Now, that's great service...some complain about JVC service, but I guess it depends on who you get taking the service call.
Was it easy to replace the lamp?

At present, I'd say my bulb's run for over 1,500 hours (averaging five to six hours a night, a little longer on Saturdays and Sundays during football season) since I first turned it on last March. So far, so good. I'd also like to know how easy it is to replace the lamp.

is still working and lighting up...question:
Does the JVC bulb diminished in brightness yet, as bulbs do as these age?
Also, do you use your HDMI port in the back-some JVC owners have experienced some difficulty with them?
