Hi, Im new to this site. Was wanting to find out some info on my options of hooking up my system. I have a jvc av-48p575 connecting to Motorola 6412 dvr box. Question: For better PQ should i go with just the component cables or hdmi/dvi connections? Not very swift to all the technology so any info would be awsome thanks..

I can tell you that w/ my setup the hdmi connection was better served using it to connect the dvd rather than the STB to my tv. But you should try yours both ways and see what looks best. Read thru the FAQ's about things you should do for your new hdtv for some very helpful suggestions. With the 6412 you probably want to split your coax before the STB and send one line directly to the TV fo your analog stations to look better.

dvd downfall
Thanks for your input flyonthewall. My dvd player doesn't have the dvi port so i guess i will have to check in to a new one for things to work the way i would like. I have a phillips dvd surround system so i suppose this will be a good oppurtunity to look at a jvc dvd player since thats what i really want to connect to my hdtv. Then i will do some testing. By the way, how much are the dvi/hdmi cables??
