I have recently bought the budget projector from Dell, the 1100mp. Considering i got it for a little more than $600 i am very happy with it. After connecting it up to everything i own, everyway possible, i attempted to connect the projector to my surround sound dvd receiver using the "HD" cable provided that has a 15 pin connector (like the connectors for a comp. monitor) on one end, and the Green, Blue, and Red connectors at the other end. When the picture came through, it displayed RED. Why is this? Can anyone help?

The 15 pin is VGA.
The receiver has component.

You will probably need a transcoder to properly convert the signals. I don't believe that can be accomplished using the supplied cable (VGA passthrough cable).

That projector can accept component through the component to VGA adapter without the need for a transcoder, it's similiar to the Infocus units with their M1 connector. I'd double check the connections, make sure you didn't bend any pins on the adapter cable and also check to see if there is anything in the menu you need to set so it knows you are using component connections.

Yup... Matt's correct. That cable should work.

Reading though the manual;
Toggle through "source" to change inputs to YPbPr
Check that "signal type" is set to YPbPr (under "management menu).

Thanks for the help. I'll check it out, I do know that one of the pins is missing on the 15 pin connecter, making it a 14 pin connector i suppose. I don't know if it would cause the picture to be like that though.
