Question OTA Antenna

hello boys & girls,

anybody ever have any luck with those antennas that clip directly onto the dish? or are they as weak as they look? thanks.

the relentless pursuit of digital tv continues...

Trying to pick up Philly stations may be a problem from Pottstown with that antenna.

Most posts that I've read state that the 'clip ons' aren't very successful.

If you're dish is pointed in the direction of the towers AND you have it high enough AND you have a clear line of sight (no trees, hills, buildings) you could get lucky, but I doubt it. I wouldn't wast the effort.

I suggest a 'real' outdoor antenna. I've had success with a UHF only antenna from Radio Shack mounted in my attic ($20). I'm about 20-25 miles from the towers.

I have used the Terk TV42 I had so so reception on mostly analog channels and nothing with the digitals I switched to a Zenith Silver Sensor and added a high gain amp and things could not be better.

As mentioned in an earlier post line of sight and distance from the transmitters has to be factored in. The problem with those clip on antennas are they are omni directional for better results with digital reception a directional antenna works best.

I use a standard UHF/VHF Channel Master (directional) in my attic for my OTA HD reception. I'm about 25 miles from the broadcast towers and get 100 on signal strength.

I have a clear line to the tower. Depending on your situation you may need to get the antenna up above the roof.
