I don't think they make HD's in 4:3 anymore. There are cheap widescreens out there from the brands you mentioned. I suggest searching the Walmart,Sams,Costo, Best buy or Circuit City sites..

RCA Tv
I have seen for a few months an RCA 27" HDTV at my local Walmart for $294. It might just be available at the local one, but just in case, check Walmart for cheap TVs. I have a 30" widescreen Advent and mostly I love it. There are a few problems that I am trying to work through with it, but they seem to not be anything serious. I paid 375 at Kmart for this one. It is the only CRT HDTV that I have seen that can do 720p. Definitely worth the money if you're cheap like us. Oh yeah, and if you can afford a little extra, always go with a service plan just in case you get a bad set.

If the Advent is the only CRT HDTV that you have seen that can "do" 720p then you are not looking. As far as I know, the Panny's are the only ones that do not accept 720p signals, and maybe that has changed in the newer models. All the rest of them accept 720p, though they all convert it to 1080p.

Converting 720p to 1080i doesn't count for "doing" 720p. A legitimate 720p CRT IS hard to find.

99.9% of CRT's cannot display 720p natively.

99.9 ehh
99.9% of CRTs ehh, i think not. My 22'' Hitachi does 1536p err.. 1080p umm 720p 480p and i dont think it does conversion to interlaced. One problem is that it doesn't have a TV tuner.
Lets not confuse CRTs with TVs in general. |
