White spot on New HD-52G886 screen

We just purchased a HD-52G886 3 days ago. Last night, we turned off the TV and noticed a white (blurry) circle in the center of the screen. Under the circle is a lighter triangle blur that runs to the bottom of the screen. My husband said it looks like "burn-in". From what we've read, this type of TV doesn't get "burn-in"...hence one of the reasons we bought it.

This is very upsetting, especially after owning it for only a few days. We are putting a call into HH Gregg, when they open. Has anyone experienced this or know what it is?

Also, we didn't get the extended warranty. Should we have?

Thanks in Advance!

It is not burn in, as you say, this type of TV doesn't get burn in.

Does the "image described" fade after the TV has been off for a while? It could just be some residual light?

See the HDTV FAQ regarding Extended Warranties.

At first, we thought it was coming from a light source in the house. After experimenting with various lights we ruled that out. It has not faded in the 7 hours it was off. The "blur" image is also noticable (very slightly) when the TV is on the blue input screen. The white blur is about the size of a softball and below it is a light triangle/cone.

Try unplugging the TV for a while (an hour?). See if the light goes away. Plug it back in. Turn TV on - OK? Turn TV off - OK? Report back...

I believe I have noticed the same thing with our HD 61z575. It has this haze in the middle of the screen a little smaller than a football. The only time I notice it is when its turned off. Under normal viewing I haven't noticed it. I will be on the look out tonight to see if I can see it while its on.
