Hitachi 42V715

Hi,
I am a newbe to the forum. I have a Hitachi 42V715
rear projector LCD tv, got it in April. It has developed a horizontal green line on the top of the screen. I am wondering if this is burn in? The odd thing is that my kids used a video game machine on it months ago and the time used was very little. Since this tv is only 6 months old, could it be burn in?
The problem only occured with in the last week and the video game was not used for months. Please let me know what you think.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Marc

It's not burn in. LCD-based TVs do not burn in.

Time to call for service if this is on all inputs on all stretch modes. If it "goes away" on some inputs or stretch modes, then it could be something else. Keep us advised and do a few experiments.

Please don't cross post. Your other post has been removed. We read all posts. Thanks.

I have a 42V710. The bulb burned out after 6 months. Warranty covered it and since I bought a 5 yr extended warranty I'm okay but beware... bulbs are over $100.

I love the TV and just ordered a DVD that supposed to help me tune it up so the picture looks better. I have no complaints now but here that the tuneup is worth it.

I was wondering if you could tell me which tune up DVD and where you got it.
Thanks,
Marc

Unhappy Hitachi 42V715

Well I got my tv fixed. The tech replaced the light engine and the original problem, horizontal lines going across the top and bottom of the screen,
was gone, Since the repair there has been a red "blob" about the size of a quarter one the screen, the blob does not move and has not faded out.
The tech. came out again and said this was a burnt pixel and that there was nothing he could do. I thought a burnt pixel would be a pencil point spot on the screen. Does the blob sound like a pixel problem to anyone?
Please let me know if anyone has had this problem. Are there any fixes for it?
Thanks,
Marc

Nope, sounds like a bit of dust/dirt on the light engine.

Here's what I got: Sound & Vision Home Theater Tune-Up

Check out http://www.amazon.com/Sound-Vision-H.../dp/B00005TRZA

What I got is a few years old. There may be more current stuff out there now.
