Westinghouse 32"

Let me bring this to the new thread topics. I saw the thread leading me to AVS but was hoping someone might have one here on this site.
I am wanting to know if anyone has or had a westinghouse 32" HDTV monitor? To me for $1000.00 it looks to have great PQ, sitting between a 32"sony and 32"sammy....only thing i noticed right away was the blue looked more greyish...so I asked the guy if he could adjust it and he said that they are set by a certified guy to get the best PQ so he couldnt.....yep I waited until he went away and did adjusting and now the blues are blue. The blacks looked blacker on the sammy than both the sony and westinghouse, but i can deal with that.
One and only downfall for me personally is that is doesnt have a HDMI port.....but from researching here...I can buy DVI to HDMI cable....I beleive the HD converters we will be using have Component and HDMI.

You might want to wait...

The LTV-32w3 should be out soon, although I haven't seen any pricing yet. This model features HDMI (HDCP compliant) and a built-in HD tuner. More found here... http://www.westinghousedigital.com/...prod-32w3.shtml

Good luck!

Well, I wrote one of the epinion reviews... I suppose if I had anything to add since writing it, it would be the following.

I finally figured out how to toggle the DVI input from the remote (pretty simple actually, I was just experiencing an extended brain fart).

SD PQ only suffers on channels broadcasting inferior signals, like all fixed pixel displays, I suppose (artifacts and smearing). HD PQ still knocks my socks off.

I wish there were an HDMI input. NOTE: the w3 model is supposed to have both a DVI and an HDMI input. However, if you're looking to connect more than one source via pure digital inputs on the w1, switching gear has a premium pricetag ($200+). There is a workaround, but it means using a Y connector and manually switching the inputs everytime you want to run a different source (costs about $20 but the PITA factor may be a deterrant). I tried both Component and DVI/HDMI connections with my HD receiver and didn't really notice a difference in PQ, so I use the DVI for my upconverting DVD player and Component for the receiver.

I also realized, after the epinions review, that each input (DVI, Component, etc.) individually saves adjustments to picture parameters (contrast, brightness, etc.). This is a really nice feature to get the best PQ from each source.

Just thought I'd add a few thoughts. At around $1000, I think this monitor is a steal. Best of luck with your respective purchases!

Allin4green, just wanted to thank you for your opinion...I actually just got done reading through the Epinions.com opinions on the westy 32"
In regards to the comment about the difference between connection(lack of difference) got to talk to a Motorola Tech today as we have him coming to give us a demonstration on some of there HD converters...he said that only in impiedence testing will you actually see a noticalbe difference between the HDMI/DVI/Compenent connections when viewing TV's pictures, but a better picture using DVI from a PC...but a lower PQ with Coax/AV lines..
BUT ANYWAY..
I plan to have my Cable Co. HD converter plugged in DVI port, then my Xbox 360 into Component, my DVD will be on Component as well. With those connections do you see any trouble when it comes to switching from port to port? My Cable Co provides a universal remote s the remote that comes with it really isnt important to me.
Can you explain the PIP to me how it works, since there isnt a dual-tuner? seem ssome put this feature down as useless....I would assume I could split the coax line one to TV other to HD converter..I would get the analog in the PIP and then the HD converter on the main screen, or am I wrong? My analog is a crystal clear picture so my PQ on SD should be fine on the TV...I work for the Cable Co so of course it is going to look good.

I use the DVI connection for an upconverting DVD player. In my situation there is a visually noticable difference in PQ because the player upconverts a 480p signal to 720/768p only through the digital connection (unless I hacked the player to upconvert via Component). Upconversion is also a point of contention, but on most players the feature only works through DVI or HDMI anyway, so... unless you have an upconverting player, I wouldn't see any problems with the connections you mentioned.

Check the FAQ on "Why Does My HDTV Have Poor SD Picture Quality?" You'll probably notice a difference on certain SD channels with HD monitors. You might want to post a question about the specific STB and cable provider you're using/work for on one of the forums here. You're likely to get some better replies about this.

I can't comment on the PIP because I haven't used that feature on the monitor. I have a DISH 942 HD STB that has mupltiple tuners built in and I use that for PIP.
