Tint control setting

I have a new westinghouse 27" lcd that seems to display skintones a little red, Im not sure if its just me or what cause i ran dve and checked the red and blue and it says the colors are perfect, My question though is when i turn the hue control to -5 the red in faces go away but i was wondering if this is degradeing the picture in any other ways? Im really even unclear on what the tint/hue control even does as it doesn't state it in the manual. Thanks

What do your eyes tell you about the PQ when you adjust the Hue control? If the picture looks better to you with Hue set at -5 as opposed to what the DVE calibration suggests, who are you going to believe?

The other side of this equation may depend upon what TV/monitor you had prior to the Westy. That is, sometimes viewers become so accustomed to improper video settings that viewing a "properly calibrated" monitor looks... well, wrong.

You may want to repost your reaction and questions on this topic in the "ISF Discussions" or "AVIA & Video Essentials Jibber Jabber" forums. There are likely a few experts there who can respond better than I (I'm far from an expert)

I just wanted to note for other people that have this tv that think it may have to much red Allin was right, I was just so used to viewing a tv that wasn't calibrated properly that i thought every persons face wouldn't have red on it, and i think alot of peoples tv's are setup wrong as well. The way i found this out was hooked up the red cable on my component video cable up to a 3db antentuator and at this point everything looked like my old tv did, fleshtones all normal skin color BUT i started noticeing the red wasn't normal so i put in my dve dvd and the red was actually maroon so then i unpluged the antentuator and the red looked normal again plus looking threw all of the filters showed that the color decoder was actually perfect on every color. So the point is, Don't trust your eyes trust the tests on digital video essentials or avia.
