What would be the farthest range of a UHF antenna for OTA HD signal reception? Let's assume a large, roof-top mounted, directional antenna with a booster, over flat & open terrain?
100 miles? There's a guy that lives in SIOUX FALLS, SD (which borders Minnesota) who is claiming he can receive KWGN DENVER, CO (WB). Yeah .... right! He posted a report on www.hdtvpub.com. Last edited by Eyedox : 01-02-2003 at 07:21 PM. |

If the topography is right-ie flat enough and the antenna high enough it is possible. when I was a kid, my Grandparents lived in northwest Michigan, about 20 miles east of Manistee, we would watch the Greenbay Wi station. The signal would have to come across Lake Michigan.
I saw a Web sight some where a guy was pulling stations in from hundreds of miles out -something callled TROPO? I see if I can find it again and let you know.
