quick ? about d/a power
the sony models have a 12bit - 108mhz converter and the panasonics use a 10bit - 54mhz unit
does this make the sony stronger in anyway? i know raw number don't tell the whole story so that's why i'm here. you guys/gals tend to know your stuff! right now it's the xbox through the hdpack to the hitachi 43 fwx - the only movies i have that look 'stunning' are monsters inc and the toy stories - and those could do with some improvement. the superbit 'panic room' i have looks like i spend a few rounds with a young mike tyson before watching it - and we aren't even going to get on the quality of g.i. jane i know it's not the way the tv is setup cause progressive and high def games look great - but for movies the xbox and ps2 are like the ihop of dvd players so i'm looking at spening about $200+ and the sony and pana are getting my current vote - any ideas? e95 |

I own the RP82 and it is, IMHO, the best DVD player I have seen. I have not, however witnessed any of the very high end Pioneers, but am comparing it to many Sonys I have watched. Keep checking Crutchfield, that is where I found mine about a month ago.

Per Crutchfield the RP82 was discontinued by the Manufacturer on 12-16-02. It is to be replaced by a different model to be determined later.
Go figure the the best player on the market for less than 250 and it is discontinued.
