I tried the Panasonic. Pixel problems, and an ugly guide. Took it back and bought the Toshiba DST-3000. Beautiful picture, Nice guide and caller ID too! Excellent.

4Dtv/HDD200

The BEST in terms of picture quality and sound is a C-Band 4Dtv satellite tv system.....More SD & HD channels than any satellite tv provider. master broadcasts, very little or no-compressions to degrade the picture.....
The SD programming looks and sounds as good as a DVD......
Also 5 HD channels available.....

You can get a Samsung SIRT150 for cheap. It will give you OTA network broadcasts with a simple UHF antenna. I have this unit and it looks totally awesome!! Just watched my first HD broadcast (The Practice on CBS) and thought it was cool even though I didn't care at all about the story. I just marvelled over the picture clarity. I saw sweat on this dude's upper lip...cool!

If you care about HBO or Showtime brodcasts, then get a satellite/OTA combo. Not sure which of these units is best.
