Read the FAQ's

That's a large and involved question ...
You should research it yourself by reading the FAQ's or searching the internet. In a nutshell, IEEE-1394 and DVI are different digital connection types for sending HD signals between different components.

If you have a Mits 65-incher, then you have IEEE 1394, or FireWire. Basically, as I understand it (and know first-hand), that allows you to both view and record HD programming with a HD VCR (I have one by Mits). It's stunning. The digital VHS tape of a HD program is jus as good as the original program. DVI, the interface system on most monitors and sets does NOT, as I understand it, allow HD taping.
