I understand the Cinemotion does a reverse 3:2 pulldown. Does that also imply that the out put is a 480p picture (i.e. progressive)?
Just curious. My player - Sony DVP NS700p has pregressive output but I leave it turned off because if it is on, the TV will tend to get "stuck" in 16:9 mode regardless of what the player puts out. Perhaps this is an issue with the movie encoding on the DVD? For example, if I have the Princess Bride SE in, the player set to progressive output, the menu on the DVD - which is 4:3, appears in 16:9. The documentaries also appear in 16:9 but they are shot on video and should be 4:3. Any thoughts on this are welcome... -Frank |

a couple of ???
First off, is your tv a true widescreen? I have the same dvd player, we do not have those problems....But we have a 57 widescreen...Now, what i will tell you is when we got the tv, i had to go into the setup for the dvd player and let it know that i had a widescreen, and its a 16:9, so i think the first thing you need to do is go into setup for your dvd player..Make sure no dvd is in it..If you have a hard time let me know and i can walk you thru it, it was kinda hard to find at first....
Televisions have the prog. on when watching dvds...Also have it set on cinemotion. A really good place to get some info: HDTVoice.com - High-Definition Television Talk > HDTV Sets > Sony HDTV Sets > Sony KP57HW40 > SEEING THE BIG PICTURE : A Glossary and Introduction to High-Definition sorry could not place the shortcut, and i tried... Where you need to go is under sony, then click on the 57HW40, then you will see the link..Seeing the big picture, it does a good job of explaining things..Hope this helps!
