So I get my first LCD TV from UPS yesterday, right? I'm 18. I know enough about electronics to get 'em started up and ready to go. Not real good at the trouble-shooting thing.
Here's the problem: I hooked up the TV to the power outlet, and to the cable wire (which does work; I was previously using it on a 19" Apex CRT TV). I turn it on, and what pops up? The name of the source in the upper-right corner, and a warning box in the middle that says, "no signal input". WHAT?! The source it was on by default was DVI. So I hit the source button, and it switches to D-Sub. Hit it again and it switches back to DVI. WHAT?! Those are the ONLY two sources I can get out of the damned thing. Is there anything fixable about this? Or do I need to send it back? |

Here's a copy of the manual...
I'm sure you're probably overlooking something simple. http://www.westinghousedigital.com/...User_Manual.pdf With all cables connected, unplug the TV from the wall (power) for a few minutes and try again.

Many newer TVs have "auto-sensing" inputs. Meaning if nothing's connected to an input, or a device that's not sending a signal, then the input is not on your "active" list - sometimes greyed out, sometimes not even displayed.
So, you need to have a signal going to a certain input and sometimes you may need to "override" the auto-sensing by switching to a particular input using the user menu to search for how to switch inputs, or using the "source" button on the remote...

I just had the Westinghouse 19w6. I bought it last Saturday and returned it yesterday (Thursday). I got it on sale with the rebate for $199, but it was nothing but trouble. It only had 1 component input. DVI is not compatible with my Verizon Fios DVR. The VGA (D-sub) didn't allow for audio from AV cables, only from an audio cable, so connecting my Xbox 360 via VGA was out. And to top it off, only 1 audio input for multiple video inputs. The audio was horendous, probably worse then the APEX tv you had. Since this is your first HDTV, it's not a bad model for the price, but if you have multiple HD inputs, then you might run into problems because of the limited audio inputs. I wound up getting a 20" Sharp instead and it's far better then the Westinghouse.

I got this for the same rebate. But TigerDirect isn't responding with my rebate confirmation.
Well, I posted at another HDTV forum, and we still have come up with nothing. The source button doesn't work, obviously... When I try to enter the menu, it is abruptly interrupted by the "no signal input" warning and shuts the TV off. I cannot get ahold of Westinghouse support via email or telephone. |

You might try this sequence
Plug into wall Power on. select tv as source with remote press menu and auto program. If this does not work, replace in shipping container and return. Doug k

Some of you just don't get it...
It will not go to TV as the source, nor can I get into the menu for more than two seconds... And I can't reach TigerDirect or Westinghouse to return it... |

I guess we don't...
So, what shall "we" do? Apparently your TV must be faulty. We tried our best to provide assistance/suggestions. Sorry... Best you can do is try to get it repaired/exchanged/replaced. Good luck! ![]()

Your owners manual states that the input sources need to be attached first...
before you plug it in, turn it on etc. Have you tried to do it exactly as the manual asks? I apologize for not putting that into my original response, an oversight. If the sequence above does not work, then it is indeed faulty and needs to be returned. Stay calm... Doug k
