Geforce3 DVI to composite?
Is there a way to have the signal out of my PC's GeForce3 DVI out got to the composite Y/Pb/Pr in on my Sony XBR 36"?
Does NEone know where I can get a cable or are the two signals incompatable? Maybee there is a way to go through a converter of some sort? Thanks, ~Poofz

I don't think it can be done, you're attempting to go from a digital to an analog signal & would need a converter along wiht the cables

Well, I did find out that ATI (YUK!) is working on an adapter for their 8500 series to go from the DVI out to composite. I found this on www.hardforum.com Good geek/modders site.
Pliablemoose, what type of converter would I need? I dont mind a little project...hopefully I can mod it. If you know more please let me know. I am dieing to pump UT to my Wega. Thanks |distortion|

I am dealing with this problem for a client, so I did some looking around and found this out that there is a solution, although I havn't tried it yet...but it seems to be crdible based upon the source:
http://www.digitalconnection.com/Su...iffnotes_17.htm The bottom line is you need the following: 1. Determine if your TV has RGBHV or Y-Pb-Pr 2. If RGBHV, you will need a breakout cable 3. If VGA (15-Pin), you're good to go (see full details, (there are a lot), on this subject at the above URL 4. If Y-Pb-Pr, you will need a transcoder 5. Download PowerStrip from EnTech Taiwan 6. PC Monitor to set your resolutions and timings In my case I have a Y-Pb-Pr connection, so I need to get a Transcoder. Which enables the display of HDTV set top box or personal computer on a Component Video HDTV monitor. Automatic formats - 480p, 720p, 1080i/540p. No image distortions on Sony, Toshiba or Philips HDTVs. This converter is called; KD-VTCA2 Key Digital VGA (RGB) to Component Video Converter / Transcoder and can be seen or purchased at the following URL: http://www.hometheaterworld.com/rgbtoyptranw.html On step 5, from above, you can get PowerStrip at this location: http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ps.htm It looks kind of complicated to me, but I'm going to give it a try and will try to remember to post the results.
