DVD player/recorder

I'm not sure if this is were this posting should be or not so, Moderator feel free to move to the appropriate forum if needed.
I am interested in haveing the ability to record from TV and then burn my own DVD's with that material. Specifically, I want to record music DVD's and latter make my own DVD's with the selections that I like. QUESTION, what is that minimum necessary equipment needed to do that with the most ease? I was wondering if the new piece of equipment RCA SCENIUM DRS7000N DVD/PVR might just be what I'm looking for. CC curently has it for $499.00 with rebate.
