DVD (Component)
I will make this a short one but need advice
I have 57SWX, Pioneer DV-45A, (component hookup) I notice that the picture is sharp and can be colorfull. I do notice a lot of black and darkness when there are scenes that are not open and bright. They just seem to dark. Is this normal, or do you have to adjust the set for DVD veiwing. My Set is basically 40% on Con, Bright, Color, and Auto settings are off. Thanks Sorry longer than I thought it would be!! |

Some DVD players have a black level adjustment or option in the user menu. You may wish to check for this.
If you don't, you may need to hit the TV service menu to adjust in 480P mode... Or you may need to "live with it" finding a compromize. Some DVDs and some HD programming is "darker" than SD programming. This is due to the larger "range" that these programmes have. Much like the dynamic range improvement when CDs came out - quiet and loud passages were further apart than on records - 90 dB instead of 40 dB S/N.
