Help setting up XP30 with Dolby Digital
Hi,
I just got a Panasonic XP30 DVD player. I've hooked it up to my Pioneer DTS reciever with a optical cable. However I'm not able to get any sound to come out of the surround speakers. When running S&V tests I can't get sound out of the surround channels. They seem to be coming from the front speakers during the surround test. Is there some setup that I need to do? The receiver does say that it's getting a digital signal, maybe that's not enough? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

1. In order you listen to "surround sound" you have to turn "surround" on - perhaps you're just listening in plain old stereo?
2. There is a speaker setup that's required for most receivers, but usually the surrounds would be "on" by default. Check your operating manual. You need to go through a proper speaker setup anyway. Usually the receiver has some "built in" test tones for doing the setup. You have to decide if your speakers are "large" or "small", if you have a sub, etc. You can then fine tune the setup with AVIA. 3. Receiver manuals are usually pretty clear in these instructions, so read them carefully. 4. If you have a sub, type "bass management" ( including the quotes) into your favourite search engine and read more about that there...
