Panasonic DVD-RP62 DVD player problem

I purchased a Panasonic DVD-RP62 progressive scan DVD player for my HDTV setup. It was the most expensive of the others being displayed, so I figured it was probably the most functional (had more features). I found this to be wrong.

It does not play any of the rewritable DVD formats, like DVD-RW and DVD+RW. Since DVD writers are popping up everywhere, and many of my friends already have DVD writers on their PCs, it's hard to imagine an expensive DVD player NOT playing rewritable discs.

I found a Sony model that for the same price does play the DVD rewritables.

So once again, price does not mean the same as features. Oh, well.

This unit can play back Panasonic DVD-R discs recorded and finalized with a Panasonic DVD video recorder. It may not be able to play some DVD-R discs depending on the disc and the condition of the recording

This is from Panasonic's website.

It can probably read DVD-R disks from a PC also but experimentation is probably in order to make sure it has been finalized properly.

To be honest with you you shouldnt expect any of these DVD players out there to read DVD-RW or CD-RW I would never suggest using these type dics. You should always buy just CD-R or DVD-R and not recopy on the others. Ive never had a prob with mine reading DVD-R but I dont think to many players out there really like DVD-RW..........................
