hmmm, IMAX is like 5 stories tall...

HDTV has good resolution - 4-5 times regular TV, however almost any film-based medium has resolution of 10 times what an HDTV has. So any programme that had good production values will look good on an HDTV. IMAX will not look any better, simply because it is vastly supperior to anything that can be displayed on an HDTV.

The IMAX format (aspect ratio) is about 1.1:1. An HDTV is 1.78:1. This means that either you'd have to crop the original material to display 16:9, or watch it with huge black bars (or stretch). I see no advantage to IMAX on HDTV, other than the fact that the original material probably had good "production values".

Please don't PM me with questions that can (and should) be asked in the forum, thanks. Personal Question? Fire away.
