DVD Players w/DVD Audio Capabilities

I've been reading about these type of DVD players lately and I'm thinking about purchansing one. Does anyone have one of these players? If so, how good does a DVD Audio disc sound? Is it worth the purchase? What is a good site for me to find DVD Audio disc? Thanks.

I recently purchased a Panasonic DVD-CP72, it is a Progressive Scan 5 disc changer that supports DVD-Audio, however I have not tried a DVD Audio disc yet. The progressive Scan pictures is more than worth the price though, it play's VCD's, MP3 and WMA, well...

Judging by the sound and picture quality of this Player having played everything but DVD-Audio I would say that you can't go wrong with this player, especially for the 250.00 that I payed at Circut City.

I was looking at Panasonic also. I'm thinking about the DVD-F85S. It is loaded with features, but I specifically like the 5.1ch. Surround Sound Audio Out. This will allow me to take full advantage of the DVD-Audio capabilities. I can't wait. This player is only $150 MSRP. Now that's all I have to do is scrape up the extra funds. My wife is going to kill me because we just purchased our Samsung Progressive player a month ago. She doesn't understand, though. Wish me luck!

I would hold off on the Panasonic until some reviews are in. considering that panasonic has moved to low price entry level products. I would be suspect on the quality of the audio end.
A proven recomendation for DVDA is the Pioneer 45a. It plays both DVDA and SACD.

I checked Pioneer's site and couldn't find the 45A. Is there another model number it could be under?

Wouldnt get a pioneer in the first place for a good DVD player. Check this site out for a good player and some have DVD-audio playback or SACD.......... http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cgi-...arch&articles=5

I have the Onkyo DVSP 800 that plays SACD and Audio DVD and I'm very pleased with the sound quality. Understand that the disc you are listening to makes all the difference in the world.
Discs that have been properly recorded allowing you to get the full 5.1 sound are fantastic but there is a rather limited selection and they are considerably more expensive than regular cd's.
I compared the Onkyo to a nymber of other DVD players to determine which provided the best pq, and really don't see much difference, although I have elected to use a panasonic xp-30 for video and the Onkyo for audio. The rest of your system will obviously effect the sound and of course you must have six channel input on your receiver.

Last time I was in "that" store, they had maybe 50-75 titles in the DVD-A section. I almost bought one of the Fleetwood Mac, they had an older release and one that was just released that day, but hadn't really done my homework and wasn't sure how much was just audio and how much was both audio and video. Most seemed priced @ 22.99, I think, but that was a week or so ago and many shopping days have passed so I might be a bit off with that number.

I think "that store" you referred to must be BB. They have some DVD Audios and some SACD's but a limited selection.
I agree with the conventional wisdom that the best place to buy is via the net. Most of the discs I have do not have any video or if they have video it is just still shots or lyrics.
It's amazing to me that most people that work in stores that have(Like BB & CC) or should have(like stores that sell cd's and dvd's) these discs should at least know what they are.
