Why no Multi region players available?

Being English and living in Florida, I have many region2 DVD's I still want to use. I cant find anyone selling a prog scan player with all the bells and whistles that is Multi region. Why? In the UK I have a player that plays US DVD'S?

If I buy a new one, can I get it chipped or something to be able to play multu region? Im bidding ona RP82 that is multi region on EBAY, but Panasonic say they dont make one???????

Can anyone throw any light on this.

I believe APEX make a multi-region player. Some players can be easily modified to play region 2. (I don't know how).

There's also a link around here somewhere to a site that lists DVD player features, but I can't find it right now. Perhaps someone else has it handy...

Please don't PM me with questions that can (and should) be asked in the forum, thanks. Personal Question? Fire away.

ebay Multiregion

The DVD-players you are bidding on at ebay have been modified to play multi-region. Lots of DVD players are made to play all kinds of formats then "blocked" from playing certain regions. The ones on ebay have simply had the block removed. I am sure there are more proper technical terms, but you should get the picture. I saw a link yesterday about making your player region-free and will look for it later.

Look at the item description on ebay - most of them state that they have been modified, but that it shouldn't change the integrity.

Check out these links, a simple search yielded these results.
Region Free
DVD upgrades

Depending on the DVD player that you have, you could just go in the service menu and make it region free.
Region Free 1

DVD ROM Link

Well, I found what I wanted. An RP82 with Multi region. Good old EBAY. I paid a little to much, but that's what I wanted. Should be here anyday. Thanks for your help guys.
