Panasonic RP91 scaling/zooming?

I finally got an RP91 over the weekend, bought refurbished from PCMALL for about $415, which beats the hell out of the $799 list. I got it to go with my widescreen RCA F38310 because I was having full mode lock problems with unenhanced DVDs. I have been told by many people that the RP91 will fix this problem, and the term some of them used was "scaling." I have searched the confusing manual and found nothing about scaling, but I did find a feature called ZOOMING in this poorly written manual. But ZOOM is supposed to work with 4:3 formatted DVDs, but also seems to be fixing my problem. BUT I can't figure out if the ZOOM is what others have called SCALING. Does anyone have any other ideas how to fix the distortion on unenhanced DVDs with the RP91 besides the ZOOM?
