Noob Question

I have a Panny PT-47WX51. I realize that this set is 'HD-Ready'.

I am considering going to Direct TV and would like an HDTV Satellite Receiver.

My question is do I still need to buy a HDTV decoder? If so does anyone have suggestions as to what type of decoder should I be buying and will this TV and decoder be around in 5 years?

Many thanks from an HDTV rookie

Any DirecTV high Definition Sattelite Reciever will act as the decoder you need and tune the signal and pipe it out to the TV so your TV can show High Definition. There are many different recievers out there just search the forum and the threads on the different ones available.

Thanks for the fast reply. I was hoping I didn't need another component.
