Question: What do you do once you're in there? (:

I have a 55, and when I press that sequence, it just puts some letters up on the screen (SMD, or SDM, or something like that).

hi
i have a little problem, i have the tv with screen one finger narrow in both sides, if i go in to service menu with 062596 + info, in geometry/horizontal there is not any e-w correction (very strange) then i put one eprom from another similar chasis and i have e-w correction but not posible to tuning chanels, i buy a new eprom but i have the same problem like the original one, no appears e-w correction in the menu.
I have seen in the net, in top of the service menu appears several numbers called op1 to op7, and depends the tv model it change, i put the numbers more similars to my tv model, i put the tv in stand by for store this ( there is not any store function in the service menu and i have read in some models with stand by i store the changes), but when i swith on again the tv, the screen is very narrow (like 4:3 format), i can tunning channels and i have in the service menu e-w correction, i adjust it and then the screen is perfect.
I put it in stand by for store the changes, but when i switch on again , the screen is very narrow like when i change the op numbers.
I test another thing, change the op numbers, adjust e-w , return to original op numbers, stand by, switch on again and surprise, i have a good screen, stand by, switch on and again good screen, but surprise, if i switch off the tv from the power button i loose all the parameters and return to the beginning.
I don't know what to do, if are necessary special op numbers for each tv, if there is some special way to store the changes, etc.
Any help is wellcome, i'm lost
thanks

Philips 30PW8402

Hello,

I just bought the 30PW8402 and I would need to know how to get into the service mode to:

- reduce the overscan

- get rid of the garbage bar I get at the bottom of the screen when I output PAL (yes, the 30PW8402 can play PAL !!!). Please note that this garbage bar doesn't show up when I switch on the concerned AV input but only a second or two later (IMHO - this probably can be fixed within the service mode).

Thanks for all !

Anything listed in your manual (I.E. Troubleshooting or Error Lights/Indicators)?

Not sure if this is what you need to do but, to reset the T.V. hold down the power button and unplug from the wall at the same time.

Sharpness control in service menu?

I have a Philips 34P series hdtv. When I am using the component inputs, the adjustment for sharpness in the "personal" mode is disabled, and the fixed value is way too high (84 out of 100.)
Can I change this using the service menu? (Note: the value is lower in some of the preset modes, but they have issues of their own.)
Any help with this will be appreciated.
