Does anyone know if the JVC AV-48WP74 accepts a 720p signal? I am looking into one but the web site only says that it converts all signals to 1080i - not mentioning 720p. I am primarily interested in X-Box games and Monday Night Football! Thanks in advance!

I probably visited a dozen sites. Not one talked about it accepting 720P. Since it doesn't talk about it, it likely doesn't, despite the fact that it says "all signals are converted to 1080i".

Anyone out there with JVC experience who knows for sure?

You may want to look into Hitachi or Toshiba...

This is really only an issue for games. All STBs convert the ABC 720P signal to 1080i for you, so MNF is not a problem.

The 48WP74 does accept 720p. Soul Caliber II for the xbox transmits in 720p, though oddly, not in widescreen!! However, 480p is widescreen. A big flaw in the designing of this game.....how many 4x3 tv's actually accept 720p? The majority of HDTV's are widescreen.

It accepts 720p and upcoverts to 1080i.

Just picked up the JVC AV-48WP30, any tips as far as tweaking the factory settings? It's not delivered yet, so I just don't know what to expect.

Also, I've read online that a PS2 can damage the projectors? Is this true?? Sounds weird, but I don't want to break it.

See the FAQ on "What you need to do to your new HDTV". The damage they may be referring to is burn in from static images - see the FAQ on "Burn in."

The Av-48wp74 Does Accept 720p But It Upconverts It To 1080i, I Have The Av-48wp30, And I Tried It With The 4200hd, Changing The Settings, Back And Forth, It Accepts All Signals,(formats).

Hi, Sorry if im jumping in on your thread but i ordered this tv and it will be here tommarow but i was wondering if you guys have experianced the red color bleeding and to much red with this set? i seen this at the place where im geting it and read it on amazon, i figured it could easily be fixed so ordered anyway. So have you guys fixed it on yours? could this be fixed by something like the digital video essentials dvd? Thanks

nick2003 i have the av-48wp34 which is the same tv but last years model. it does have a little red push. video essentials made the red push worse at first. but it took some time to fix the red i finely got to look pretty good. but it was not perfect. so i had it isf calibrated now it looks amazing the color is perfect now.

man thats alot of money , So you say the video essentials helped, How much of the red was gone could you still noticed the bleeding? Thanks again for all the help, Much apreciated

no bleeding after videoessentials its all in the settings i have all the settings writen down if you need them i can send them to you on this thread. when u get it the factory settings are set for display in a store they are set to vivid. at the factory that is way to bright for normal viewing the best setting is the theater setting. and if you use the dvi for hdtv the color is real saturated. u just have to set the color down a bit. but isf is diehard videofiles. the jvc is i think the best bargin right now for hdtv. go check out the rig in the gallery section see what u think

Your setup is nice, Amazing how much bigger the set looks in a living room then on the showroom floor Glad to hear the color bleeding isnt going to be a problem i was really getting worried about that. I would really apreciate the video essentials settings if its not to much trouble. Thanks

no problem here u go make sure you do convergence first but you need to let the tv warm up first for at least 30 min
remember to set picture setting to theater
color -2
tint +6
picture+5
bright+10
detail+5
color temp 2 low
dig nosie clear in middle
not a bad set up for 5000$ when u get it its going to look big in your living room. have fun with your tv man and when you get hdtv you won't belive your eys oh and if you do plan on using dvi i have settings for that to and if you need help just send private messag
