New Panasonic 47" and free spider
Around the 4th of July I bought a new Panasonic from Frys in Anaheim, got it home and set it up. A few days later I'm watching TV and to my surprise the image of a spider comes out of the top edge of the screen and starts moving around the entire field. The image it cast was about one and a half inches long, I don't know the actual size. Aren't these sets sealed? It appeared off and on for a few days then was gone, I guess it didn't like what I was watching. Wow my first digital set and I got a free digital spider. Anyone else get a spider with theirs?

There have been plenty of reports of spiders & flies...

My dog chased a moth underneath my Toshiba 65hdx82 a week ago. I assumed she ate it, but about an hour later, a Red-Green-Blue moth had taken control of the screen. I turned it off(even unplugged the set), yelled at the dog, and hoped it would leave.
So far it hasn't shown up again, but it's probably still in their somewhere. |

Spiders
Thanks for the info., I am still amazed that sets this expensive are open to insects and dust. I hope this isn't going to turn into a maintenance nightmare.

They have to be open to allow air to circulate to prevent heat buildup. It's usually not a problem, but the insides of RPTVs could use a "cleaning" every couple of years (CRTs, mirror, etc) If you can't do it, hire someone.
