DVD-RAM and directvd hd
I am setting up my new system-- I have the Zenith HD DirecTV reciever, if I run output into the DVD recorder can I record (even if it is not able to play back in HD) or should I keep it conected to my old NTSC, '2nd' reciever?

You cannot record true HD on a DVD recorder. If the STB can downconvert the HD channels, you can hook it up via S-video and then record the 480i (downconverted) signal.
