Lousy NTSC conversion
I just got my KP51HW40 and like the HD picture and anamorphic DVD display. I am very disappointed in the digitally converted NTSC picture. It is fuzzy and full of artifacts. I have a 32" Wega and have gotten used to a sharp NTSC picture.
I assume the problem is in the Digital Reality Creation hardware. Is there any way to turn it off? I can't return the set. I realize now that I never evaluated a NTSC input in the store but was dazzled by the beautiful HD picture. I guess in a few years this problem will be moot, but I don't want to wait. |

Although I am not familiar with this particular set, here are a few comments.
1. You should turn off all of the "automatic" settings for picture control. 2. You need to set up the TV using AVIA or a similar setup disk, or get a technician to do it for you. 3. I've seen a lot of complaints from Sony customers in various forums about the Sony upconversion, I would gather from all these complaints that it's not good.
