Olympics HD

I gotta say, the coverage and picture quality has been getting better. I am seeing fewer instances of those annoying motion artifacts and pixilation. The hockey was pretty cool. I never lost the puck. HD beats that little blue halo they used to put around the puck so you could always see it.

The announcers are the best. They are always patting you on the back for having a HDTV.

By the way, I am watching NBC through Time Warner Cable, not OTA, and not HDNet.

For a first time effort the PQ has been pretty good. Unfortunately here in Atlanta the NBC station does not broadcast 5.2

I have an interesting situation. I can watch the olympics OTA and on Directv HDNET. The OTA is far better than satellite feed. The local NBC OTA Station engineer emailed me and said when they started the feed they left the other 2 sub-channels broadcasting the regular NBC programming. He said they found out that sports takes a lot more bandwith than entertainment programming so they took the sub-channels and added their bandwith to the olympic feed. The difference is un-believable. By doing this though, they lost 2 channels. I don't think from an economic consideration they would do this on a regular basis. Directv is apparently not adding additional bandwith so some pixilation and motion problems are in the picture.

I am using an RCA F38310 direct view and it's like being there in person. I looked at many different types of sets, projection and direct view and this RCA in my opinion has them all beat for picture quality and ease of use. Directv HD receiver is built in so it automatically switches from digital to analog depending on the signal. Signal strength meter is great aid in aiming antenna.

It's funny. That is exactly what my NBC engineer said, except one of the sub-channels was being used to give live doppler radar. It does make a difference. Much less pixilation.

Some people have left my house saying it was better than being there. Almost, too clear.
