Boscov's
Has anyone purchased their set from Boscov's? They are offering a free ($200 value) .professional set up when you purchase a rear projection HD TV, which supposededly includes convergence, color and contrast. Has anyone had this service and if so how involved was it?

I was unable to be home when the 'professional' came to setup my set, so I talked to the guy for a few minutes on the phone and had my wife babysit the process. I was not overly impressed. He did a simple 9-point convergence to my PT53wx52 and adjusted some color settings which I promptly re-adjusted the minute I got home. His knowledge of the TV seemed adequate, but his general A/V knowledge was insufficient to properly configure some things for my system. I had to tweak some things when I got home to get the PIP audio swapping and a couple of other things to work. To be fair, some of this was to be expected since he was unfamilar with my system and I wasn't there to give him any pointers.
If you need someone to come in to hook up your DVD player, VCR, digital audio connections, etc. and do a basic color/contrast adjustment so you don't ruin the set, it has some value. But it is not a full-blown 'calibration'. |

Thanks Funes, Thats what I thought it would be. I actually bought the Hitachi 57s700 tonight at Circuit City for 100 dollars less then Boscov's wanted for the 57s500. CC has a special running on Hitachi's that you can get the internal OTA turner for just $50 more. Pretty good deal I think and add to that that they have 24 months 0% finance on Hitachi's and also its was in stock and will be delivered on Thursday. Could'nt beat CC.
