Question Turn OFF 4:3 Mode

Does anyone know of a way to disable entirely the 4:3 aspect mode of this television. I just got a new one and don't want my 8 year old son to damage it accidentally.

Off the top of my head the only I way I could think off would be to feed the TV with a component input feed. Any time it gets a feed like this, for example a DVD player, it locks in full screen mode and there is no way around it.

Panny. Although you're correct to a certain extent, a large percentage of the material coming across HDTV channels is still upconverted 4:3, with black bars on the side. Not good for your RPTV. I don't know of a way to "lock out" the 4:3.

Since the child is 8, you could aways tell him not to watch something with "black or grey bars" on the TV and to call you, or turn the TV off if the bars appear?

Thanks

Thanks for the input. I have explained to him about the bars and to turn off the TV when he gets through with it. I have put into JUST mode for most things and haven't told him about the ASPECT button on the remote.

Check your set up menu on the DVD player to make sure that it is not on 4:3 as a default. This can affect the picture and how it is projected and it is a Progressive scan, you will not be able to adjust the aspect on your set so you must have the DVD set up properly. I hope this is what you were looking for.
