Question Extended Warranties?

I have seen several threads/comments on extended warranties from providers other than the manufacturer or retailer. Warrantybynet and Viking are the most prominent.

Has anyone had experience using these warranty, and what was your experience like?

On my last TV purchase (Hitachi RPTV...not HDTV), I bought the extended warranty from Circuit City, and had to use it after moving. I must say it was painless. All I payed was the deductible. I was sure glad I bought it. The best price is not always the best value.

Extended Warranties?

According to every article I have ever read, extended warranties ARE NOT cost effective!!! I have never purchased one and never intend to.

See the FAQ on Extended Warranties. There are also several threads on extended warranties (one link below). People seem to be split as to whether extended warranties are a good idea for them or not. On average, the dealer wins though...

Please don't PM me with questions that can (and should) be asked in the forum, thanks. Personal Question? Fire away.
