I’ve read the reviews for the Sony VPLHS20. All are very positive. I’ve thought of upgrading from the VPLHS10, but I need to put some more hrs on my present unit before I can justify the cost. The Sony Cineza line is one of the brightest FP on the market and the color reproduction will blow you away. Also the unit is very portable. I haven’t heard anything negative regarding this projector. This would be my choice at the present time but I’m biased based on my fantastic experience with my VPLHS10.
DVDs will look great, but HD programming will blow you away. Even though this projector has quite a bit of lumen output make sure that you can control the light coming into the room. What is a VPHLS20 going for in the Toronto area? How large of an image are you planning on projecting?

The VPLHS20 hasn’t been out that long. I haven’t checked prices recently, but when they first started shipping back in November they were going between $3300 and $3500 US. If you’ve seem them for $2600 I would think that is a good deal only a couple of months after initial shipment started. My image size is roughly 92inches from 11 feet away. One thing to keep in mind is that if you want to go higher than 110 inches the projector will need a short throw lens. Right now Sony is the only one that I know of that carries such a lens for the VPLHS20 and it will cost you an arm and a leg.
The other feature I like about this unit is the DVI input allowing it pair up nicely with a DVI output dvd.
