It has been a while since I returned this unit, but from what I remember:
You couldn't get signal strength for OTA (off the air) signals. Everytime the unit had a reception glitch, the screen would blank. Changing channels was slow. The channel guide was slow. At the time, I didn't have Direct-TV so I cannot comment on satellite reception. Overall impression: poor Last edited by HDorBust : 07-28-2002 at 01:16 PM. |

I've got one of these units, bought it on a closeout for a reasonable price. DON'T buy one for any price, it's the most tempermental receiver I've ever owned, on the plus side the picture is excellent, on par with DVD if not bettter. The negatives, slow to change channels, wants to think about it - maybe you haven't made the right choice, changing channels and looking at the menu structure is enough to drive a person to drink, glad I'm Irish. Will not integrate the automatic program guide, watching local channels requires switching to local channel mode. This is the second Panasonic product I purchased in the lase 6 months, the first, a VCR, came with a defective remote, that problem pales by comparison with the frustrations associated with this unit. Panasonic is no longer an option for this household, and Panasonic customer service (?) couldn't care less.
