Well crutchfields has these now and was wondering if anyone else knows of when your local Best Buys will have them. Best Buy still seems flush with the older stuff...

I would be surprised to see Best Buy ever carry this model, as they never carried last year's 57'+ XBR models. I would think you need to go to a 'higher-end' electronics store to find the WV700 models. I picked mine up at Abt Electronics in Chicagoland.

I purchased my 65WV700 at Video Only in Federal Way, WA for only $3400 plus tax. Thats about a $1000 less then some other places I see it at.
Anyone else get a good deal? |

I'm thinking about buying a Sony KP57WV700 but the sales man is pushing me to a Mit Platinum WS-55511 or a Diamond WS-55909. The WV700 seems to have a way better picture than the Mits, and this is one of my main criteria for buying it.
Even so, I'd appreciate any feedback from anyone that has compared any of these sets. Also, I'm looking forward to connect my latop to the TV and use it as a PC monitor. What is feature/function/connector is required for this to work? Thank you for your feedback! ![]() |

Curvom, since you are looking at relatively expensive RPTVs , one of them a Sony, and especially since you want to use it for a PC monitor, let me suggest you look at the new Sony Grand Wega (not the old one). I'm not trying to "sell" this set, but since you're spending the money, check it out...
Check out --> This Thread on the new Grand Wegas

Thinking about buying a KP57WV700
Thank you for your reply 57U. It was my mistake not to mention that my primary use for the TV is for HDTV transmissions, DVD, etc.
Having said that, I'm also looking at the possibility to hook-up my laptop from time to time and use it as a PC monitor while I navigate the web. In the other thread you had recommended about the new Gran Wega, you do mention that the RPTVs are better. Back to my original doubt, is there any way I can hook-up my laptop to the WV700, with a reasonable resolution? What would I need in terms of cable/connector/features, etc. to make it happen? ![]() |

Fry's electronics here in Dallas had the KP57WV700 for $2499. I'm not sure how long it was at that price though. I looked at it on a Monday night, told the sales guy I'd be back the next day (had to ask the 'boss'). Came back the next day and it was back up to standard retail price ($3499).
Of course, they wouldn't deal with me, no matter what I tried...even though the sales guy said I could come back the next day and buy it. Store manager told me I should have asked for a printed quote...next time. They also had the 57WS500 for $1899 and the 57WV600 for $2499 (not sure why it was the same price as the 700). I'm really kicking myself now for not getting it on the spot. Ended up getting the 57WS500 from Ultimate Electronics for just at $2000. Not too bad..... |

Welcome to the forum.
If you haven't done so already, check out the FAQ section, 6th one down on the home page, especially the post "What you need to do to your new HDTV." The other FAQs are also sometimes helpful for those new to HDTV. As far as laptop connections are concerned, most new laptops have composite or S-Video outputs, problem is it can sometimes be difficult to configure the driver properly. Under control panel, display, settings I think. (I'm currently on a Mac so I can't check right now) For convenience, many HDTVs have connectors on the front, make sure you "turn on" (switch to) that input.

It's hard to complain, though. We get treated like mushrooms and we keep going back there.... (Around here, Video Only will typically beat most Fry's prices. I'm not sure it would have beat the $2499, but I paid $3400 for a KP65WV700 at Video Only.) |
