AC/DC controversy still rages

Sender:
Regarding the analogy of 8-VSB with steam car technology, perhaps a better parallel in history would be the example of AC power distribution in the USA.

During the early development of DC power distribution by Edison, there appeared on Edisons doorstep a young man by the name of Tesla. He was looking for work and Edison employed him as a technician. In fact Tesla was a brilliant mathematician and had already conceptualised the idea of the first induction motor. Tesla was convinced of the huge benefits of AC power distribution and wanted Edison to use his ideas. He was handing this to Edison on a plate. Edison flatly refused and would not permit any discussion of this technology. Edison was concerned with the threat to his already established DC system irrespective of the obvious benefits of AC power distribution. The end result was that there was a considerable delay in the development of AC power distribution in the U.S. Does this sound familiar?

Modern COFDM technology will be used in the US. The stubborness of entrenched special interest will only delay it and cost our economy untold billions in the process.
